Dubai: Details about Dubai's proposed elevated railway project will be unveiled at the upcoming Gulf Traffic Convention between October 26 and 29 in Dubai, alongside Gulf Traffic 2002, the exhibition for the transportation sector. The event will focus on the future of mass transit in the region. It will include a joint presentation on the ambitious project from Dr Abdelgader Elshabani, Transportation Planning Specialist, Dubai Municipality, UAE, and Kenneth Sislak, Vice-President, Director of Public Transport at international consultancy Wilbur Smith Associates (WSA), a leading international consulting firm, which is among the event's sponsors. Dubai has recently announced its intention to create a railway system to combat road traffic, which is estimated to triple by 2017.

Dubai plans three new road projects

Dubai: Dubai Municipality will launch three new road projects in different parts of the emirate next month. Engineer Badr Al Gergawi, head of the Roads Planning Section at the Roads Department, has announced that the total cost of the projects would be Dh42.3 million ($11.5 million). The new roads will be in Al Bedaa, Al Quoz and Al Jafeliya.
