Morocco plans highway project

The national road building authority SNAM has issued international tenders for construction of the 28-kilometre Tetouan-Frideq highway. The project forms part of a major road-building programme, which is intended to help develop the northern part of Morocco and improve transport links between the countries of the southern Mediterranean and Europe. The estimated project costs are $60million and the Portuguese government has said it is prepared to provide financing.

RAK looks for transport operator

Ras Al Khaimah is seeking a taker for a contract to run the bus transportation services in the emirate. The company that is awarded the deal should provide a sufficient number of buses to cover even remote areas of Ras Al Khaimah. So far received no applications have been received. A municipal transportation committee has been set up to provide facilities such as bus stations and parking lots. The minimum number of passengers on each bus should be 14 and the maximum 28. The tariff of the service will be fixed in conjunction with the company.
