The Lebanon office of the Syrian Arab Airlines is all set to introduce two new flights between the Beirut-Dubai and Beirut Casablanca routes this summer. The decision to operate these flights is a part of the company's expansion plans and will reinforce Beirut's Open Skies policy," Rasheed Attar, director-general of the Syran Arab Airline's Beirut office said. Syrian Arab Arlines' office currently serves only direct flights to Aleppo and Damascus. The airline was able to attain permission to fly these two routes due to the government's adoption in 2000 of an open skies policy that lifted restrictions on foreign flight operators in the country. The policy, which is applied in Dubai, allows non-Lebanese airlines to use Beirut International Airport as a route to third party hubs such as Dubai. The Beirut- Casablanca flight would fill the void created by Lebanon's national flag carrier Middle East Airlines, which does not as ye provide services to Morocco. Attar said that the once-weekly flight to Casablanca and twice-weekly flights to Dubai would prove profitable to the airline due to the number of Arab travelers expected to converge on Lebanon or continue on to European or Arab capitals. " Beirut’s International Airport is an important hub for a number of Arab and western capitals," said Attar. MEA has leased three airplanes and is planning to acquire six more new planes to finance its expansion plans. Posted-25th
