New
Cargo Center proposed at Entebbe International Airport
Situated at the center of Africa without any access to seaports,
Uganda relies heavily on the services of a modern international
airport. In tune with this, the Entebbe International Airport
is in the process of making a thorough modernization programme
including the setting up of a new cargo center. "We
are registering a rise in both transit cargo, incoming and
outgoing passengers year after year, making us a fully recognized
international airport. Ensuring that both passengers and
their belongings are safe has become our main priority,"
said Igne Igunduura, spokesperson of Civil Aviation Authority
(CAA).
The preliminary design consisted of the planning and design
involving cargo apron and taxi ways, dry cargo building
(for perishables as well as dry goods), truck off-loading
area, vehicle parking area and roads, freight forwarder
buildings and cold storage facilities.
