ACR to venture into charter services
EAL starts seasonal operations on Lagos/London route

ACR to venture into charter services

Airline Cargo Resources (Pty) Ltd., the airline cargo services provider, is in the process of venturing into charter operations soon. "Apart from airline services, we are planning to enter charter operations and we expect the first possible operation to be a weekly service, Johannesburg – Ndola – Lusaka – Johannesburg. Should the market potential be sufficient, this service will begin in early 2004 on a schedule basis. Many destinations are available upon request for full loads for charters," said Natalie Rice, General Manager, Airline Cargo Resources (Pty) Ltd.

Last year, ACR witnessed the addition of new carriers to its growing list of airlines.
ACR-Johannesburg (JNB) secured the contract for Precisionair Services as their GSA and GHA, which has its head office in Arusha-Tanzania. While ACR-JNB will be operating B737 aircraft four times a week between Durban, Johannesburg and Durban, the airline expects to commence operations to Johannesburg by early 2004.

EAL starts seasonal operations on Lagos/London route

European African Link (EAL) has commenced low-fare flights between Lagos, Nigeria and London route, operating into the Gatwick airport, according to a local newspaper. Flight operations are performed by European Aviation Group, a charter airline based in the United Kingdom.

EAL, which operates a Boeing 747-200 on the route, is owned by a Nigerian, who says he plans to concentrate on flights during festive seasons such as Christmas, Easter and Muslim festivals. The company's executives say that they intend to reduce fares on the Lagos to London route, lowering the cost of a return ticket from NGN 140,000 ($1,000) to NGN 99,000 ($707).

Currently, only British Airways and Virgin Atlantic Airways provide non-stop services between Lagos and London.
