BEXAIR to unveil expansion plan at Dubai 2003
Bahrain Executive Air Services (BEXAIR), one of the Middle East’s highly successful aviation newcomers, says it will press ahead with a fleet expansion programme and announce a key aircraft purchase at Dubai 2003, the international aerospace exhibition being held in December.
The charter airline, which was launched at the last Dubai air show in 2001, says its business is progressing as planned and requires the acquisition of an additional long-range aircraft and type feasibility studies are currently underway.
"The announcement of the selected model will be made at Dubai 2003," said BEXAIR Marketing Support Manager, Sakeer Sheik.
BEXAIR, which currently provides executive aircraft charter services throughout the Middle East to international destinations, says regional demand for executive air services is at an all-time high.
"There has never been such demand for executive air services," adds Sheik.
"Some of it is security-oriented, but overall there has been a major need for our high standards of executive charter. There was a niche and we are filling it with great success."
Sheik says the Iraq crisis is unlikely to bring a downturn in business. "Charter operators do not suffer the same ill-effects as mainstream international airlines although there are flight disruptions due to closure of certain air-routes in the region," he said.
"It was also clear after September 11 that the aviation industry in the Middle East did not suffer as much as in some other parts of the world. The recovery process was also faster in the Middle East. We expect a quick return to normalcy. However, during the crisis, of course, BEXAIR is strictly adhering to a contingency plan to ensure protection of our equipment and people."
BEXAIR currently has a fleet comprising a 12-seater Challenger 604 and a seven-seater Citation Excel. Sheik says this month, it will take delivery of a seven-seater Citation Bravo.
The Middle East’s private, business and charter jet service market has been one of the most buoyant in the world in recent years.
BEXAIR now is the ground handling agent for all business/executive aircraft (up to 20 passenger seats) at Bahrain International Airport. The agreement was entered into with effect from 1st April 2003. This is indeed a mile-stone for BEXAIR as the terminal and its world-class facilities will now be available for all business travelers.
